I have been getting alot of emails and requests regarding the "which building do I try to get maxed first" question. In my opinion, the Silver Mine is by far the most important building you can upgrade first. The main reason for this, is because this is obviously going to be your main source of income. At higher levels, I believe this building gives you the most benefit as well. (higher levels of the building's own level). Let's say you were to upgrade your Silver Mine to level 35. Then you decide that is sufficient for now and are upgrading other buildings. At level 35, you are gaining 7,452 gold per hour (now known as g/h). Which means in a 24 hour period, you'll have gained 178,848 gold. A level 36 silver mine takes 10 hours (roughly) to complete, and costs 98,687 gold to upgrade. If you were to upgrade your silver mine, you would still make 115,276 in the last 14 hours of the tick. Minus the cost of the upgrade, and you would be up 16,589 gold. So usually, as you can see, your profiting from upgrading the mine. Not too mention that you will be getting more gold every hour....forever. At lvl 45, you are clocking 20,225 g/h. 10 levels goes a long way. 306,552 in 24 hours to be exact.
There is, however, a catch. Upgrading the mine is going to require having your treasury at a high enough level to store the excess gold, and it is usually a good idea to be pretty active on the game so that you efficiently using it. You'll also need to rotate out upgrading your farm as well, so it can support the mine. With any building, upgrading the Headquarters always helps to lower construction time, so sometimes it is good to mix these upgrades in to get you your maxed out Silver Mine faster.
